Dayaxo- Sunrise Lethid

Description

The only Dayaxian denizen ever brought from paper to the 3rd dimension. Lethids are aquatic vertebrates which live in a great variety of freshwater habitats. Despite living lives similar to Earth fish, they are by no means as diverse. That position is held by the ubiquitous and absurdly diverse Mockfish.
Lethids belong to a much larger, mostly extinct group, known commonly as "crabfish". The Sunrise Lethid, named for its bright colours, lives in the many lakes and ponds that dot the mossy plains of the subtropical coast. Despite being biologically overshadowed by the mockfish, lethids possess an organ known as a "wet diffuser" which allows them to strain the oxygen from the air. However, in order to do this, the lethid must remain wet. Often during heavy seasonal rains, lethids are seen leaving their bodies of water to hunt or seek out new waterways.
The organ on the front of its head is a powerful electroreceptor, which it uses to locate worms in the muddy lake-bottoms it inhabits. Like most lethids, its head is wide and bony, making it difficult for predators to swallow. It's powerful, insect-like jaws are ideal for dispatching hard-bodied prey.

I might put this in a shadow box alongside some smaller members of the genus.

Amazing creature design! I’m looking forward to seeing more from this project
ps: I reckon the idea with the shadow box sounds amazing!
